Each day, the team at Rostron Premium Home Services comes to work and offer premium home services for the Jersey Shore. We learn new things, build connects, and ultimately do our best to help the community with our knowledge.

Unfortunately, being so close to the close to the industry can blind us. We don’t always realize that expectations and concepts that are second nature to us may not be known by the average homeowner.

This time of year, we want to share one common misconception that usually leads to disappointment, along with some things that you can do to avoid displeasure.

A Difficult Conversation to Have

We’re just going to rip off the bandage. No one wants to hear it, but…

GETTING PARTS TAKES TIME.

Even for companies like Rostron, who have dozens of fully stocked trucks and thousands of parts readily available at our warehouse in Wall, there are certain parts that require special ordering. Sure, there are some parts that can be replaced with universal options, but not all. Trust us, though, if it can be safely replaced by a part that we have on our trucks, we will absolutely do it same day.

WHY?

  1. Take the number of HVAC brands you can think of off the top of your head.
  2. MULTIPLY that number by 15, for the average lifespan of a unit
  3. MULTIPLY again by four, representing the different sizes of residential equipment
  4. Pick any number between 20-30, acting as average amount of parts in a full system and MULTIPLY

Before our technician is able to take a look at your system, this number is the amount of things that may have gone wrong with your system.

(If you think this might be a bit of an exaggeration, just remember that this is just based on the number of brands you can think of, not the actual number of brands out there)

But Why the Delay After You Know What the Issue Is?

It’s really a dealer’s choice situation when it comes to this question. Is the part old and outdated? Then the manufacturer may not be prioritizing its production. Is there a holiday or weekend? That could affect shipping, adding yet another speed bump. Where is the part coming from? That can cause some hiccups as well.

How Do I Avoid These Uncomfortable Delays?

We get it, especially in the heat of the summer. Everything is worse when its hot and humid. Rostron Premium Home Services has come up with three ways to limit the amount of waiting you need to do. Good news, they’re all pretty easy!

#3: DON’T WAIT!

If you know your system is old and getting ready to sign off, it might be time to at least explore the option of replacement. Companies like Rostron Premium Home Services often offer free estimates for replacement, meaning you can get a leg-up on the issues before they even come up. By considering replacement and getting an estimate before your system is fully inoperable, you’ve already completed the first few steps.

On the other hand, if your system isn’t so old but it isn’t working, skip the denial. Have an HVAC technician out to check on the unit. Don’t get us wrong, during the heat and humidity of the Jersey Shore Summer, your system will run consistently and it may not be able to meet temperature until the weather subsides.

#2: SET A GAME PLAN

We like to think the team at Rostron Premium Home Services are great communicators. This includes the technicians and project managers. However, they cannot make decisions for you. It’s important that all decision-makers sit down and have a discussion before an appointment with a service tech or project manager. Some topics of conversation might include age and issues or discomfort you’ve experienced in the past.

#1: ANNUAL MAINTENANCE

Don’t wait for problems to arise to give your system the love it deserves. Routine maintenance means caring for your system throughout the year. It’s important to schedule these regular visits to allow an HVAC professional evaluate your system. On top of avoiding preventable repairs and catching problems early, you’ll also be saving money and expanding the lifespan of your system!
