In October 2008 we contracted with your company to have a home energy audit performed. I had been interested in doing this for some time, having seen the procedures on This Old House and other home shows. The technician did a very thorough audit and was at our home for a full day.
Your home is a complex system, and Tom Rostron Heating & Air Conditioning understands that. We'll use proven, state-of-the-art diagnostic tools to figure out how to make your home more comfortable and efficient.
Living in a home that is drafty in the winter or too hot in the summer can be frustrating. It might seem that no matter how high or low you set the thermostat, you just cannot seem to cut back your energy bills. Chances are, your heating and cooling systems are working overtime because your home is not properly air sealed and insulated.
Reducing the amount of outdoor air intrusion and energy loss through poorly insulated spaces are the most effective solutions. Our team offers a budget-friendly, customized home performance package that can help you improve your home’s energy efficiency -- increasing your comfort and reducing your energy bills.
Tom Rostron’s Home Performance Package
Our technicians utilize state-of-the-art technology and equipment to find out where your home is improperly sealed and insulated. While every home is different, some common problem areas that we check are:
- Recessed Lights
- Crawl Spaces
Our comprehensive home energy analysis will help us build a customized improvement plan to air seal and insulate the areas that need it most. Our work is guaranteed to help your heating and air conditioning systems operate less often and more efficiently.
We have found that most of the homes we work on have leaky ductwork and insufficient airflow. The result is an uncomfortable living environment, regardless of your thermostat setting. Tom Rostron Company Inc. may also recommend sealing your home's ducts. Leading options include mastic, metal tape or aerosol-based sealant. We can also help you balance your duct system to optimize air flow to all rooms.

There’s been a lot of discussion lately among homeowners in Monmouth and Ocean counties about whether it’s better to have small amounts of outside air enter the home or to seal the home as tightly as possible. As with any aspect of home performance and energy efficiency, there’s no such thing as a “one size fits all” solution that can be applied across the board to all homes.
